...one of my powers. I can build machines out of my body, but not here. Obviously. But I'm tired of being defenseless, I need something I can work with.
[ he doesn't sit just yet, instead raising an eyebrow. that enough for you? ]
[He nods! And then continues to towel off Irene as he speaks.]
I come from a city called London, which is the glory and heart of the great British Empire. It is a bustling city, a center of great technology and wonder. And one can't neglect to talk about the fog...ah, the almost ever-present London fog. It adds a veil of mystery to the city, when its about. And the way its streets wind and twist, the sounds of hansom cabs running from destination to destination...well! There's nothing like it, my dear fellow.
Nah. Six years ago there was a big explosion--that's what spread the nanites all over the world. There was...an accident, in the lab that was developing them, and here we are now. [ shrug ]
[Just taking it in his hand to look over! Even with glove. He's mostly feeling how it feels in his grip.]
Mm. So machines are a part of you...these "nanites"...but you do seem very human-shaped, all the same. It isn't as if you have gears sticking out of you! Like...ah, well, I suppose Mr. Drebber is exceptional in that regard, hm....
[ Rex carefully watches as Sholmes fondles his hand. It feels completely normal, regular human levels of squishy flesh! ]
Nanites are tiny. Like, can't see 'em without super powerful microscopes. Too small to get them out, too, which is why we're all stuck with them instead of being able to get rid of 'em. Everyone with nanites looks and feels normal--until they go EVO, anyway.
I know a guy like that too. Huge jerk. My robot arms are way better.
Going EVO is like...okay, so, everyone has nanites in 'em, right? But most of them are inactive, and having inactive nanites is like not having them at all--you're just like you were before you got any. But sometimes, they activate, and that's when you go EVO. Usually, it means you--or your pet dog, or your houseplant or whatever--turns into a giant rampaging monster. But sometimes, you get lucky and you mutate into something else, but at least you get to stay yourself.
Kind of. Technically, I'm an EVO too. If you're really lucky, you end up like me--looking like a normal human, but with some extra cool powers sprinkled on top that you can control whenever you want.
So really, I'm already mutated. I can just kinda...choose whether or not to show it off. Normally, anyway. My nanites have been totally non-responsive since I got here.

[COME HERE, YOU NERD.]
My world's quite a vast one. I may just talk of my home, London. Here, I'll tell you.

Alright, sure. That oughta work.

From the same world.
[...]
Or at least, mine is similar, but it is without your...body machines.

That's probably for the best, though--nanites kinda ruin everything.

Go....EVO?

[A...monster?]
That's...frightening. And what, I assume you mutate but stay something else? With...what was that? "Robot arms"?

[A hum.]
And now you want to activate said nanites, yes?
