Since... the Watchers all made some sort of voluntary deal to be here, as Bertolt made a deal that was "voluntary", [ you can feel the quotes in the way xie lian says that; san lang chuffs, an angry little snort. ] it does make sense.
Did you hear what was discussed during today's trial? That abilities could be bartered for. And it seems that Mr. Hoover got himself into a devilish deal that ended up poorly for him. Asking for...murder, as a price.

I do worry that others will take similar deals, now that we know what its capable of.

What a foul, vile creature - to prey upon human's desires in order to cause death and destruction. And not only that, but to set them in such a deal that becomes impossible for them to 'achieve'. It makes me sick.

I asked Bertolt if he felt as if he could get out of the deal - if he could say no when it was offered. He said no. So not only did he agree to it, but he was manipulated into doing so - even if he hadn't wanted to agree, there would have been no backing out.
...You know, in my world, a creature like that isn't an angel. A being who descends to give temptations and impossible bargains to mankind to make them commit evil is none other than the devil.

And now we are in dark times where we are now susceptible to this threat. I do wonder if we can find out how and where and when these deals can be made...and how to stop them.

Bertolt said he was approached on the second day that we were in this city. [ so... there's that. ] But, I don't know how to stop it without my spiritual energy. Or, if we even can.
