Originally, it was meant to be... a "pissing contest," to determine which precinct ought to "claim" the orphan district... [He shakes his head. There's disdain in his tone.]
I volunteered with the intention of spoiling the "fun" and conducting a proper investigation, cooperating fully with the detective from the 41st.
He didn't always make it easy, with his bizarre investigative techniques... but he is a damn good detective. I don't think I could have solved the case without him.

...Well, one man's bizarre techniques are another's definition of "normal". But a most excellent conclusion for the both of you, if the case was solved.
Yes... in many ways, it was. It's rare for a case so complex to get solved, much less as thoroughly and satisfyingly as it was... and with so many "side-cases," too.
...She only found out just recently about it. Mikotoba has never really discussed the matter of our partnership with her, himself. He's been a devoted father to her for all these years since he returned home. We stay in touch on a fairly regular basis, regardless.
Admittedly, I thought her father would inform her. I'm the stranger in the equation, no? But...the whole thing was rather a kerfuffle of things from the beginning. I merely...put it aside. It wasn't important.
