What he did was horrible, but he had to have done it for a reason. If we knew that reason, then we could work to make sure he doesn't murder someone again. That's the best way to help someone not do bad things: find out why they were acting out, and make it so that reason for acting out doesn't exist anymore.

...guess it's kinda hard to see a 'he was in a bad situation' when he killed and ate a guy though.
