[The day is going badly and it probably isn't going to get any better. Upon the sight of Sholmes muttering to himself, Revali turns his head away, probably having decided that no, talking to this guy is a waste of time.
But he won't get to ignore Sholmes for much longer! Because ignoring him meant not making an effort to move away, leaving Sholmes in course of collision.
[Revali had barely gotten to put Sholmes out of his mind when bam, he bumped into him, and as if that wasn't enough, he's just looking and making inane comments! He can see what Van Zieks means, this man really is a clown!]
Did you? Then this particularly soft obstacle wants you to step away from him.
[Still, hm...should...perhaps should he consult something with Sholmes? Revali tries to figure that out. Medli the penguin, taking the initiative, waddles around, as if trying to circle Sholmes so he wouldn't leave yet -- making a lot of noise to make sure he wouldn't bump into her, geez. Last thing they need around here is Sholmes accidentally punting someone else's daemon away like a feathery football]
[penguins are gonna fly thanks to sholmes amazing punting
That depends. You are a little more...perceptive than most, no?
[Despite everything Sholmes is, Revali has to acknowledge that yeah, he did do well in the first trial. Revali can acknowledge things begrudgingly! He just hopes it wasn't a bit of good luck, and that he's not making a completely huge mistake by talking to Sholmes about anything involving the rest of the fellas around here]
[Wow, just saw the faulty HTML turning my last tag into a tag for ants, my bad.
Either way, Revali looks around, as if he's going to ask something of the utmost importance. That's probably just Revali behaving like the world revolves around him, really]
Everyone else. To be more precise, I'm interested in hearing your opinions about who is trustworthy and who isn't.
[He shakes his head]
Because at this point I can't tell.
[Revali is a little too narrow-minded for his own good. While he's capable of accepting things even if they go against his thoughts, that's usually when there's incontrovertible proof. Otherwise he clings to his impression to the very end, and here? Here that's no different.
Some people are idiots. Some are very annoying. Some seem to be reasonable. Others are just...frustrating altogether. With all these little caveats he just can't figure out who is reliable and who isn't -- and from those who he considers reliable, if maybe he's thinking too highly of someone]
Ah. Ahhh. [He taps at his chin, his expression creasing into a thoughtful one.] Now that is something difficult to ask.
[But answer, he will. He snaps his fingers.]
For one, I can vouch for Miss Susato and Mr. Van Zieks. They are ones I personally know, and both are strong in their moral character and unwilling to deceive. Now, for the rest...
[And drawing back to a thoughtful expression.]
The rest, of course, I cannot vouch for. Some of them have stronger moral characters than most, however. I can say...if I were you, I would hedge my bets on relying on Mr. Kaburagi, the Lieutenant, and Xie Lian. I have talked to them enough to get a sense of their characters. The rest, while some nicer than others...I am less sure of, though this doesn't mean they're not reliable in their own ways. There are factors there I cannot see, and things that could persuade them to act out differently than they present themselves.
Van Zieks doesn't seem to like you very much, but he did say he knew you for a while. He does seem like a serious guy.
[...Van Zieks may be one of the few people Revali would kind of believe won't go stab someone in the middle of the night for any reason]
Those three...while I agree with your judgment about Kitsuragi, are the other two really worth relying on?
[Apparently Kotetsu's...everything makes Revali hesitate, hah. Xie Lian is someone Revali already respects, but he's not sure if he likes just how...straightforward? He can be? Just walking to Revali and immediately saying they're friends?]
He is most indeed a very serious gentleman, but I have seen his true character. He is one who holds very strongly to his ideals. He simply isn't very overly friendly, for numerous reasons.
[He may be a troll who is a nuisance to Van Zieks always, but he does respect the man, in his own way.]
Yes, I would say so. They both have...it is difficult to say, but talking to them, I would say that they are people who are similar in that they are dedicated entirely to doing the right thing. They look out for others, and not only that, but they are men who would gladly put themselves in front of others. As far as character...they're ones I would look to for reliability.
[Revali nods. Despite everything, he considers coming to ask Sholmes about his opinion was a decent decision]
I suppose I should thank you for your opinions on this regard. As you may have guessed already, I'm not one to go talking to people pointlessly. Figuring out what's beyond the surface is not something I can do with ease.
[To put it lightly! Ah, the woes of playing someone who is both arrogant as all hell and doesn't really go hanging out with others]
no subject
But he won't get to ignore Sholmes for much longer! Because ignoring him meant not making an effort to move away, leaving Sholmes in course of collision.
No way he can keep ignoring Sholmes after that!]
no subject
[And he just.]
[Bumps into him.]
[Floof.]
[He looks up, encountering more feather floof.]
Dear me, Irene! We seem to have come across a particularly soft obstacle!

[But he nods and then just. Twirls back, giving a bow. Truly excessive to his core, this great detective.]
Then it shall be so. Tell me, what does a fine-feathered friend need? Not my services, no?

So, what may I...perceive for you?
