[It would just be dangerous. For everyone. If those two forces of madness collided...]
But I do worry about the lieutenant-yefreitor himself. The last time he "danced till he dropped"... he literally dropped. And when he came to, he claimed to have had a spiritual experience... [He sighs.] It's a little concerning.
[A slightly suspicious look at that... but then he shakes his head.]
About a week. We're from different precincts. We were just working together on a murder investigation in a part of town that falls between our two districts.
Originally, it was meant to be... a "pissing contest," to determine which precinct ought to "claim" the orphan district... [He shakes his head. There's disdain in his tone.]
I volunteered with the intention of spoiling the "fun" and conducting a proper investigation, cooperating fully with the detective from the 41st.
He didn't always make it easy, with his bizarre investigative techniques... but he is a damn good detective. I don't think I could have solved the case without him.
Aha, I see. An opportunity to move pieces and claim what they may.
[He nods - just from Kim's words, he can tell that he views the man very highly. That's shining praise.]
...Well, one man's bizarre techniques are another's definition of "normal". But a most excellent conclusion for the both of you, if the case was solved.
Yes... in many ways, it was. It's rare for a case so complex to get solved, much less as thoroughly and satisfyingly as it was... and with so many "side-cases," too.
...She only found out just recently about it. Mikotoba has never really discussed the matter of our partnership with her, himself. He's been a devoted father to her for all these years since he returned home. We stay in touch on a fairly regular basis, regardless.
Admittedly, I thought her father would inform her. I'm the stranger in the equation, no? But...the whole thing was rather a kerfuffle of things from the beginning. I merely...put it aside. It wasn't important.

Have you worked together long?

Ah, so a collaboration. Was it making progress, with two minds instead of one?

[And he steps onto a shard.]
[The series of memories make him...quiet, suddenly.]
no subject
... Who was that man?
no subject
[He lets out a laugh, and then poses.]
I saw your partner, my dear fellow. I suppose this place found it right to show you mine, in return.

... And his name was 'Mikotoba'?
no subject
Is there something you're trying to say, Lieutenant? Let's hear it.

Any relation to a Miss Susato Mikotoba?
no subject
Yes. He's her father.

How recently?

[Ahaha.]
But Miss Susato is from a different time than I. She found out earlier as far as I could recall.

[He's a little doubtful. But it isn't really his business.]

[He just lets out a sigh.]
Anyways. These memories are most troublesome, aren't they? Cropping up when they're unwanted.
